Thought
Its interesting function in Mind. We have many explanations and philosophy for thought. But here I am going to describe in simple way to understand what it’s all about?
Perhaps it’s like a block box, to reveal this we need some other tool. So called self
Let we do simple separations and categories by using known facts.
Thought can be categorized as
1. Linguistic thought
2. Non Linguistic thought
3. Emotional thought
4. Cognition Thought.
Why we need thought? Simple answer is thought is for survival. Yes, brain which make use of thought for survival decisions.
Linguistic thought
Most common people know about this thought (Its for most non stop inner chat.) We perceive the outer world by using linguistic words and ideas then this process is called linguistic thought. If we see a tree we are really not looking or perceiving the Tree as such. The first it hit out visual cortex then its transmitted to our occipital lobe then its recognized using temporal lobe memory area. Once the pattern matching is done our brain generate the linguistic thought for the Tree.
Non Linguistic thought
Right now we can’t imagine about Non-linguistic thought, because once we learned the language then all our thought which is based on the linguistic only. In some rare occasion we can experience the Non linguistic thought.
Imagine when you are at the age of 5 .that time human temporal lobe doesn’t developed or won’t have much words or symbols to do the pattern matching. So we only understand the world by simply touch, Smell and sound. Interesting thing is we even don’t know the color difference up to the age of one.
Emotional thought
Emotional thought are fully bind with emotions. Now cognitive science identified the specific are for emotions in brain.
The thoughts are the intermediate convertor for the Mind to understand the situations.
By using thought mind will understand the situations like emotional or non emotional, emotion include the anger, fear feelings and other activities.
